The Hwange Thermal power station is the largest coal-fired power station in Zimbabwe, with 920MW installed capacity which comprises of 4 x 120MW and 2 x 220MW units. The power station generates about 40% of the country’s electricity needs. The power station is currently being expanded to include 2 x 300MW units, which will eventually will increase the power generation capacity to 1520MW.
